BNP forms human chain in Srinagar demanding withdrawal of cases
Srinagar (Munshiganj) Correspondent
BNP leaders and activists of its affiliated and associate organizations staged a human chain in Srinagar, demanding the withdrawal of cases filed against them at Srinagar Police Station.
The protest took place in front of the Srinagar Press Club on Friday at around 4 PM.
Participants in the human chain claimed that since August 5, BNP activists had been guarding key installations, including religious institutions, and patrolling the upazila to maintain law and order. However, on January 10, a case was filed against leaders and activists of BNP, Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal, accusing them of forcibly freeing a Jubo Dal leader from police custody.
The protesters demanded the release of CCTV footage to prove transparency, stating that many accused individuals were either not present at the scene or were there for other reasons. They alleged that a conspiracy was still ongoing against them.
Speakers at the human chain included Srinagar Upazila BNP President Shahidul Islam Mridha and General Secretary Hafizul Islam Khan. Other BNP leaders present were Faruk Morol, Shahidul Islam Karal, Shafiul Alam Azam, Md. Didar, Mujibur Rahman, Md. Idris, Birpara Union BNP President Swadhin Molla, Birpara Union BNP Senior Vice President Nazrul Islam Nadim, Upazila Swechchhasebak Dal Convener Faisal Ahmed Roni, Jubo Dal leaders Motahar, Raju Ahmed, Abul Hossain Sagar, Tanvir Hasan, and many others.
