Terrorists have broken the hands of Noakhali correspondent of Dainik Lakhokanth Mohammad Taslim Hossain in a terrorist attack in Maijdi of Noakhali, for not paying the demanded extortion money.

The attack took place at around 10 am on Friday at the Burlington Mosque intersection in Ward No. 5 of Noakhali Municipality. The terrorists seriously detained the journalist for several hours during the attack.

The injured journalist Taslim Hossain is a resident of Hatiar Upazila of the district. He has been living in a rented house with his family in Harinarayanpur area of Ward No. 5 of Noakhali Municipality for the past 6 years.

Journalist Taslim Hossain, who was attacked, complained that at around 9:30 am, when I left my house and was on my way to the Noakhali Municipal Market, a local laundryman Anis and his associates arrested me at the Burlington intersection. At one stage, when I refused to pay a ransom of 10,000 taka, they suddenly attacked me. At that time, my left hand was broken and my left eye was injured. Later, the local people rescued me from them and admitted me to the Noakhali Government General Hospital. I am currently undergoing treatment in bed 11 of ward 6 of the hospital. I am praying for the arrest of the terrorists and justice in this incident from the local administration.

Contacting the accused on their mobile phones to find out about the complaint could not be reached.

OC of Sudharam Police Station Kamrul Islam said, a party has come to the police station with a complaint against the journalist in this incident. They said that the journalist fell and broke his hand. However, if a written complaint is received about the attack on the journalist, legal action will be taken after investigating.
