Various organizations, including locals, have formed human chains and submitted memorandums demanding the immediate and complete renovation of the only public road in Panchhari upazila of Khagrachhari.

The human chain was held in front of the Khagrachhari Press Club on Tuesday under the banner of various organizations in the upazila.

The human chain was addressed by Khagrachhari Government College teacher Yusuf Adnan, District Corruption Prevention Committee President Advocate Jasim Uddin Majumder, Press Club Organizing Secretary Didarul Alam Raju, District Chhatra Dal President Shahed Hossain, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Representative Monir Hossain, Panchhari Bazar Committee General Secretary Abul Kashem, Mahindra and CNG Drivers Cooperative Association President, and local civil society leaders.

The speakers said that the only road connecting Khagrachari and Panchari has long been impassable. As a result, there are huge problems in traffic. Despite the creation of large potholes on the road, hundreds of vehicles are moving every day, risking their lives. And thousands of people in the upazila who are constantly risking their lives are suffering.

The speech also said that although the picture of the poor condition of the road has been highlighted in various media outlets, the appropriate authorities have not taken any action. They urged the government to repair the road as soon as possible, otherwise if the road is not repaired as soon as possible, strict programs will be taken including encircling the people of the upazila.

After the human chain, this memorandum was submitted to the road advisor through the Deputy Commissioner.
