Sylhet City Corporation Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rezai Rafin Sarkar said, civilization, education are not limited to just reading books or obtaining certificates. Good habits of people are the director of civilization and personality.
A few good habits are enough to make people's lives beautiful. With a few good habits, people's body, health, and life will become beautiful. One of these good habits is the proper management of waste generated at the individual level. If garbage management is possible at the individual level, overall waste management will be easier. For this, the youth must come forward. I would like to specially thank the students of the Social Work Department of Shabiprabir for taking the initiative to conduct today's cleanliness drive and awareness activities. Sylhet City Corporation will always stand by such initiatives.
He said these while speaking as the chief guest at a meeting organized by the city's Social Work Department and the Social Work Department of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in the Medina Market area of the city on Monday at 3 pm on the occasion of the Youth Festival-2025 under the theme 'Clean up your own dirt, build a clean city' with the overall support of the Sylhet City Corporation.
Students of the Social Work Department of SUST, Md. Bayezid Ahmed, Md. Salman Shah and Nazmun Ara Sultana Ripa jointly addressed the meeting as special guests, Professor of the Social Work Department of SUST, Dr. Mohammad Faisal Ahmed, Chief Waste Management Officer of Sylhet City Corporation, Lt. Col. (Retd) Mohammad Eklim Abdin, Social Service Officer of the City Social Work Office, Mohammad Shahinur Alam, Treasurer of the Greater Medina Market Business Association, Md. Masud Chowdhury, former general secretary Md. Selim Ahmed, social worker Shiuli Akhter Tuni. Volunteer Marzia Sultana Pinky delivered the welcome speech at the event.
A cleanliness drive and awareness leaflets were distributed from the city's Medina Market area to the Shabiprabi Gate. Teachers and students of the Social Work Department of Shabiprabi, officials and employees of Sylhet City Corporation and cleaning workers participated in it.
