Army members have destroyed cannabis fields worth half a crore in Khagrachari's Guimara during a raid in the deep forests on Sunday.
Members of the Goraichhari Army Camp under the 20th Field Regiment Artillery Sindukchhari Zone and Guimara Thana Police conducted a raid in the Tindukchhari area and destroyed these cannabis fields.
Sources said that members of the regional armed organization in the hills have been illegally cultivating cannabis in the deep forests of the Tindukchhari area for a long time. They are cultivating this deadly drug behind the eyes of the administration and the common people, bringing the youth and youth to the brink of death.
In line with its determination to permanently eradicate drugs from the hilly region, based on intelligence information, the operation was carried out by the zone deputy commander Major Ishtiaq Tasnim and army members on the orders of Sindukchhari Zone Commander Lt. Col. Ismail Shams Azizi and destroyed the cannabis field. The current market value of the destroyed cannabis is said to be around half a crore taka.
Sindukchhari Zone Commander Lt. Col. Ismail Shams Azizi said that the army's operation will continue to prevent illegal drugs, smuggling, and all illegal activities in the hills.
