JnU Correspondent
A free Quran learning program has been launched at Jagannath University (JnU) by the JnU Hafiz Welfare Council in observance of the holy month of Ramadan. Within just a few days, the initiative has generated significant interest among students. Organizers are optimistic that this program can be expanded on a larger scale in the future.
The program officially began on Sunday at the JnU Central Jame Mosque and takes place daily from 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM.
Organized by the JnU Hafiz Welfare Council, this training session welcomes around a hundred students each day. The primary objective of the program is to spread the teachings of the Quran among students. Many participants, who either never learned to read the Quran properly or had forgotten its recitation, are seizing this opportunity to reconnect with their faith.
Mahmudul Haque Bhuiyan, General Secretary of the Hafiz Welfare Council, stated, "Many students struggle to find time for regular Quran learning due to their busy schedules.
Kazi Arif, President of the Hafiz Welfare Council, added, "Opportunities to practice and learn the core teachings of Islam are becoming increasingly limited in our society.
Associate Prof Tareq Bin Atique of Department of Islamic Studies praised the initiative, saying, "Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was revealed. I wholeheartedly support this effort by the Hafiz Welfare Council. A hadith states that the best among people are those who learn the Quran and teach it to others.
Regarding the initiative, JnU VC Prof Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim said, "They started this program with my permission, and I appreciate their efforts. This is a commendable initiative, and I fully support it."
