Memo to Health Adviser, human chain : Continuation of activities of Nilphamari Medical College demanded

A memorandum has been given to the Health Adviser demanding the continuation of the activities of Nilphamari Medical College and the construction of permanent infrastructure as soon as possible.

The memorandum was submitted through the Deputy Commissioner on Thursday afternoon.

Earlier, an hour-long human chain was held at Chowrangi intersection in the city. People from different professions participated in it.District BNP President Alamgir Sarkar, District Jamaat Secretary Prof Antajul Islam, District Lawyers Association President Adv Al Farooq Abdul Latif, Nationalist Lawyers Forum President addressed the human chain .

Adv Abu Mohammad Soyam, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Nilphamari General Hospital. Abdur Rahim, Nilphamari Press Club General Secretary Noor Alam, Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) Nilphamari Dr. Sohelur Rahman Sohel, Shafiqul Islam, camp president of Nilphamari city branch, Syed Mehdi Hasan Ashiq, Convenor of District Anti-discrimination Student Movement Akhtaruzzaman, District BNP Organizing Secretary Shefaul Jahangir Alam Shepu were present. District Chhatra Dal President Maruf Parvez Prince presided over.

Speakers in the meeting said, out the six medical colleges of the country, Nilphamari Medical College is at the top in all aspects. Three batches came out from here. Conspiracy is being made to remove the medical facility without developing the infrastructure. We strongly protest against it.

If there is any conspiracy on medical then strict schedule will be announced and continuous movement will be announced.

The memorandum was given to the Health Adviser through the Deputy Commissioner. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Saidul Islam received the memorandum. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Jyoti Vikas Chandra was present at this time.

Jimma Hossain, Principal of Nilphamari Medical College Hospital said, a meeting will be held at the Ministry on March 11. This meeting has been convened to identify the problems and prospects of new medical colleges.

A meeting was convened two days earlier but it was postponed. However, no official information has been received regarding the removal or closure of the medical facility.
