A Dhaka court has granted police 10 days to interrogate Nazrul Islam Mazumder, former chairman of Exim Bank and head of NASSA Group, in connection with two murder cases linked to the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement protests. The cases were filed at Dhanmondi and Jatrabari Police Stations.
Safi Muddaser Khan Joty, son of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, has also been placed on a seven-day remand in an attempted murder case filed at Dhanmondi Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam issued the remand orders on Wednesday after reviewing petitions from the investigating officers, according to Public Prosecutor Omar Faruq Faruqi.
Both suspects were brought to court from jail under tight security in the morning.
Following a hearing, the judge approved a 10-day remand for Nazrul, splitting it into five days for each of the two murder cases. The judge also approved the seven-day remand for Joty.
