Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan congratulated the new students and said that students have a lot of freedom at this stage of higher education.

By using this freedom properly, students have to take responsibility for themselves. There are both good and bad sides to the independent life of the university. Students have to choose only the good sides.
He said these as the chief guest at the introduction meeting of the students of the 1st year 'Undergraduate Program' of the Faculty of Business Studies and the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University and various institutes at TSC Auditorium on Sunday.
The event was presided over by Director of Student Guidance and Counseling, Prof Dr. Mehzabeen Haque, and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed was present as a special guest. Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, Prof Dr. Mahmud Osman Imam, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof Dr. Azharul Islam Sheikh, and Proctor, Associate Prof Saifuddin Ahmed spoke at the event. Farha Tasfin Ilma of the Department of Organization Strategy and Leadership, Tasfiah Tasnim of the Department of History of Art, and Nazia Islam of the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science spoke on behalf of the new students. Chairmen of various departments, directors of various institutes, and student advisors were present.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan emphasized on the development of students as skilled human resources and said that now is the era of networking. Students need to create networks with people from different walks of life, including friends, teachers, professionals, and others at the national and international levels. In addition to education and research, they should be good at debating, public speaking, sports, and organizational work. He urged the students to learn at least one foreign language. From the beginning of their university life, students should prepare themselves as skilled human resources by utilizing every opportunity. He mentioned that there are employment opportunities for skilled human resources all over the world.
It is mentioned that the Office of Student Guidance and Counseling organizeses this orientation program every year to inform new students about the university's profile and various service activities and facilities. Students from two faculties, the Institute of Education and Research, the Institute of Statistical Research and Teaching, the Institute of Business Administration, and the Institute of Nutrition and Food Sciences participated in today's orientation meeting.
