Bangladesh Army International University of Science and Technology (BAIUST)'s Research and Publication Cell has distributed the Research Excellence Awards in recognition of outstanding achievements in research by researchers and faculty members for articles published in indexed journals and for highest citations between January 1 and December 31, 2024.
The award was presented at a colourful ceremony held in the University's conference room on Thursday
The event was graced by BAIUST Vice Chancellor Brigadier General Mohammad Noor Hossain, BSP, PSC as the chief guest. He handed over the awards to the selected faculty members and extended heartfelt congratulations on their achievements.
To select BAIUST’s best researchers of 2024, a committee was formed on 30 April 2025. The committee evaluated the research articles published in indexed journals and those with the highest citations by BAIUST’s researchers and faculty members between 1 January and 31 December 2024, and through a proper assessment process, awards were given unanimously in three categories. In the “High Impact Publication Award” category, Mosammat Fatematuz Zohora, Lecturer, CSE Department; in the “Most Cited Article Award” category, Md. Nazrul Islam, Associate Professor (Physics), Science and Humanities Department; and in the “Top Researcher Contributor Award” category, Hasan Abdullah, Lecturer, CSE Department, were awarded in recognition of their success in the field of research.
During the award ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of BAIUST, Brigadier General Mohammad Noor Hossain addressed the faculty members saying—“We are proud of your research activities. We want to celebrate each of your achievements and successes. The standard of a university is measured by its 'research',” and he encouraged all faculty members to engage in research activities, stating that from now on, those who demonstrate excellence in research at national and international levels each year will be honored and awarded.
Among others, the university's Treasurer Colonel Mohammad Iftekharul Haque, PSC (Retd.), Registrar Lt. Colonel Khandaker Mahmud Hossain, SPP, PSC (Retd.), Controller of Examinations Lt. Colonel Shabbir Ahmed Siddiqui (Retd.), Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, faculty members and officials were present at the event.
The event was presided over by Acting Director of Research and Publication Cell Md. Nazrul Islam, Associate Professor (Physics), and conducted by Shamima Akter, Lecturer, Science and Humanities Department.
