JACSU polls on Sept 11

After more than three decades, Jahangirnagar University (JU) has finally announced the schedule for the long-awaited Jahangirnagar University Central Students Union (JACSU) polls.
JU Proctor and Member Secretary of the Election Committee, Prof AKM Rashidul Alam declared the schedule at around 3:30 pm on Sunday in the university’s Senate Hall.
According to the announcement, the JACSU election will be held on September 11.
As part of the election process, the draft voter list and code of conduct were also published on Sunday. Nomination papers can be collected on August 18 and 19, while scrutiny of the nominations will be completed before publishing the draft list of candidates on August 25.
Campaigning will be allowed from August 29 to September 9. Prof Md Moniruzzaman will serve as the Chief Election Commissioner for the polls.
Earlier, in July, Dhaka University authorities announced the schedule for its own central students’ union (DUCSU) election.
