With a pledge to work together for the developmen and to maintain heritage and reputation of Barishal Pres Club, the newly- elected leaders took the charge of Barishal Press Club after the election.

The event was organized at the Press Club auditorium on Tuesday night.

At this time, the outgoing leaders, including the outgoing committee president, Kazi Al Mamun, welcomed the newly elected president Aminul Islam Khasru and general secretary SM Zakir Hossain with floral greetings. In addition, the newly elected leaders gave a farewell reception to the outgoing president Kazi Al Mamun and other outgoing leaders with flowers.

Later, the outgoing president Kazi Al Mamun handed over the charge to the newly- elected President Aminul Islam Khasru.

Later, at the inauguration ceremony, the leaders discussed and took decisions on various office-based activities throughout the year for the development of the press club and journalists. In addition, the newly elected president Aminul Islam Khasru and general secretary SM Zakir Hossain, along with the newly elected members, expressed their hope to work together to protect the club's tradition and reputation.

Earlier, the closing meeting of the outgoing committee of the executive committee was held on the occasion of the new committee assuming responsibility. The meeting was presided over by the outgoing president of the outgoing committee, Kazi Al Mamun. The meeting was conducted by the outgoing and re-elected general secretary SM Zakir Hossain. The activities of the previous month and year were discussed in the meeting.

Among others, Chief Election Commissioner of the Barishal Press Club Election 2025-26, senior journalist Saifur Rahman Miron, outgoing committee vice-president Pulak Chatterjee, members of the executive committee, Tapankar Chakraborty, Kamal Sengupta spoke.

Lokman Hossain, Kazi Abdullah Al Fahad Rabbi, Shahin Sumon, Sagar Vaidya, Mushfiq Sourav, Al Amin Jewel, M Suhad and others.

Earlier, Chief Election Commissioner Saifur Rahman Miron and Election Commissioner Nasimul Haque handed over the election income and expenditure accounts to the outgoing and newly elected leaders.

It is mentioned that the Barisal Press Club biennial elections were held on December 24, 2024. Aminul Islam Khosru, Humayun Kabir and SM Zakir Hossain won the election with a huge margin. Professor Aminul Islam Khosru, bureau chief of Dainik Sangram, was elected president for the first time in the election. SM Zakir Hossain was also elected general secretary for the fourth consecutive time.

In addition, other elected leaders are -Senior Vice-president Zakir Hossain, Vice-president Humayun Kabir, Assistant General Secretary M Mofazzel, Treasurer Sukhendu Edbar, Library Secretary KM Nayan, Literary and Cultural Secretary Arifin Tushar, and Sports Secretary Khan Rubel and M Zahir, Kamal Sengupta, Abdur Razzak Bhuiyan, Pulak Chatterjee, Sumon Chowdhury, Mainul Islam Sabuj, Shahin Hasan were elected executive members.
