APBN, police attacked during operation in Kulaura, accused kidnapped

Three members of APBN and police were attacked while arresting smugglers in Kulaura. In addition, three other local people were injured.
The incident took place in the Amanipur area of Tilagaon Union of the upazila at around 4 am on Saturday .
The injured are APBN Inspector Nabo Gopal Das, who led the operation, and Kulaura Police Station Constables Afroz Mia and Zahid Bhuiyan.
Kulaura Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Sudipto Shekhar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter. He said that on the basis of secret information, a team of APBN (Armed Police Battalion) Sylhet in collaboration with Kulaura Police Station recovered a large quantity of Indian banned Nasir bidis during a raid on Arju Mia's house in Amanipur area in the early hours of Saturday morning and arrested three smugglers from the spot. At that time, at least a hundred people, associates of the smugglers, suddenly came and beat up the APBN and police members and snatched the seized goods and the accused.
The injured in the incident are receiving treatment at the Upazila Health Complex. The police have filed a case with the police station in this incident. The police operation to arrest the accused and recover the stolen goods is continuing.
