
500 people get free medical services in Sreepur

A group of university students and a local high school of Sreepur in Gazipur have provided medical services to about 500 people.
This service was provided on Saturday at the Singardighi High School grounds in Gazipur's Sreepur upazila. At least 300 of them underwent diabetes tests, ECG tests for heart patients, creatinine tests for kidney patients, and blood pressure tests and free medicines for all. In total, at least five or six people were brought under this service.
Under the supervision of Dr. Hujjatul Islam Palash, President of the Singardighi High School Management Committee, a group of young students from the medical engineering and university (Enforced for Social Responsibility- ESR) organized a day-long multi-faceted program at the school grounds.
These programs included providing scholarships to 17 poor and meritorious students, a lively debate competition titled "Corruption is the cause of environmental disaster" and the inauguration of a school health service program.
Students of Haji Chhota Kalim High School vs. Singer Dighi High School participated in the debate competition.
ESR member lecturer Sheikh Kamal Hossain said that training on primary health care has been arranged for 10 students of Singer Dighi High School. They will provide primary medical care to students of their school, various nearby primary schools and the general public. This program will continue one day every week. This program will be ongoing through a doctor under the supervision of Sreepur Upazila Health Complex. The program was inaugurated by Gazipur District BNP No. 1 Joint Convener and Central BNP Co-Health Secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam Bachchu.
The event, chaired by Dr. Hujjatul Islam Polash, Registrar of the Department of Medicine of Mymensingh Medical College and President of the school, and jointly moderated by Shariful Shipu and Khandaker Mostaq Ahmed, was attended by the chief guest, Dr. Rafiqul Islam Bachchu, Joint Secretary of Health Affairs of the Central Executive Committee of BNP, and Deputy Postmaster General Dr. Selim Sheikh, the moderator of the debate competition.
Special guests were former captain of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team Habibul Bashar Suman, Executive Magistrate of Gazipur City Corporation Sohel Rana, Sreepur Upazila Health and Family planning Officer Dr. Shafiqul Islam, and honoured guests were freedom fighters Fazlul Haque, Moktarul Karim Shamim and Masud Rana.
