Lalmonirhat AL leader Ranggu, Chhatra League President Raju arrested

Moshedur Rahman Ranggu, Sports Affairs Secretary of Lalmonirhat District Awami League, was arrested by Lalmonirhat Sadar Police on Thursday at around 9:00 pm near Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital.
According to Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station OC Md. Nurnabi, Ranggu was arrested in connection with a case involving vandalism and an attack on a BNP leader’s residence, registered as Case No. 2, dated January 2, 2025.
Following his arrest, BNP leaders and activists in Lalmonirhat staged a protest march, parading through the town to express their discontent.
In a separate incident, Md. Ershadul Karim Raju, Vice-President of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Lalmonirhat district unit, Vice-Chairman of Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila, and former personal secretary to District Awami League General Secretary and MP Matiar Rahman, was arrested on Friday, April 11, 2025, around noon. The arrest took place in the Khatapara Mazar area of Saptibari Union by the Lalmonirhat Detective Branch (DB) police.
Lalmonirhat DB Police OC Saad Ahmed confirmed the arrest, stating that Raju faces multiple cases. Further details will be provided through a press release, he added.
