Complaint in Dimla over alleged land grabbing attempt by opponents

  Dimla (Nilphamari) Correspondent

A resident of Jharpara village under Ward No. 3 of Nauthara Union in Dimla upazila, Nilphamari, has filed a written complaint with the Dimla Police Station, accusing several individuals of attempting to grab his ancestral land and threatening to attack him.

According to the complaint, Abdur Rashid (65), son of late Shamsul Islam of Jharpara village, has long been in possession of his inherited property. However, he alleges that Abdul Haque, Ajgar Ali, and their associates from the same area are now trying to illegally seize the land.

The complaint further states that although a civil court verdict was delivered in his favor, the accused parties have ignored the court’s order and are plotting to occupy the land unlawfully. Rashid claims that the accused have openly threatened to construct structures on the disputed land, disregarding the court’s decision.

Talking to reporters, Abdur Rashid said, even after the court’s verdict, I cannot live in peace. The opponents’ hired men are issuing death threats to me and my family. I seek police protection to safeguard my rightful property.

Rashid submitted the written complaint to the Dimla Police Station on October 18. Copies of the complaint reveal that he and his family have been living in constant fear since the threats began.

Police officials at Dimla Station confirmed that they have received the complaint and assured that an investigation is underway and lawful action will be taken after verification.
