Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Land, A.S.M. Saleh Ahmed, said that land has a deep connection with citizens’ economic security, social dignity, and national development. Therefore, ensuring transparency, accountability, and corruption-free services in land administration is of utmost importance. At present, one of the top priorities of the government is to ensure corruption-free, citizen-friendly, and technology-based land services. Through digital transformation in land management, people can now receive land-related services from their homes. This change has not only increased public convenience but also reduced opportunities for corruption. Integrity, professionalism, and accountability of administrative officers are the cornerstones of this system.

He made these remarks on Monday while addressing as the chief guest at the “Training of Trainers (ToT)” program for officers and employees from four districts of the Chattogram Division Feni, Chandpur, Brahmanbaria, and Cumilla on “Upgraded Automated Land Services” held at the seminar hall of the BCS Administration Academy in Dhaka.

The Senior Secretary said, “If those working in land administration perform their duties with honesty, irregularities, bribery, broker syndicates, and harassment at land offices will be significantly reduced. To build a corruption-free land service, the administration must simultaneously act as a servant, guardian, and reformer.”

He added, “The use of information technology in administrative activities has increased rapidly across the world, and Bangladesh’s land management is no exception. Through the introduction of automation at every stage of land service delivery, the administration has brought a revolutionary change. This ensures speed, transparency, and accountability in citizen services. Ultimately, automated land service is a shining example of service-oriented and technology-driven governance. Because of the dedication, efficiency, and leadership of the administration, land management in Bangladesh has now become modern, transparent, and citizen-friendly. If this continuity is maintained, Bangladesh’s land administration will become a model for the world.”

Speaking about fair and acceptable elections, the Senior Secretary said, “A free, fair, peaceful, and transparent election is the lifeblood of a democratic system. Elections are meaningful only when people can freely choose their representatives through their votes. The administration plays a key role in ensuring such fair elections. The neutrality and professionalism of administrative officers during elections determine the credibility of the process. It is essential to ensure that personal opinions or political bias do not influence their duties.”

The event was conducted by Md. Parvez Hasan, BPAA, Project Director (Joint Secretary), Land Management Automation Project, Ministry of Land.
