6 including two members of human trafficking ring arrested at zero line in Meghalaya

While infiltrating the Bangladesh-India border in the state of Meghalaya, 6 Bangladeshi nationals including two members of a human trafficking ring were arrested by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) from the zero line on Wednesday. 

A BGB patrol team of Baganbari BOP of 28-BGB Sunamganj Battalion under BGB Sylhet Sector detained the 6 persons in an operation at the Dowarabazar border.

The detainees are: Abul Hossain, son of deceased Abdul Malek of border village Idukona in Dowarabazar upazila of Sunamganj; his son Iman Mia; Nur Islam Morol, son of deceased Majid Morol of Hajrakandi village, Bhanga upazila, Faridpur district; Liton Mir, son of Kuti Mir of the same village; Nazrul Islam, son of deceased Jafal Molla; and Shahin Mia, son of deceased Saidur Rahman.

On Wednesday evening, Lt. Col. AKM Zakaria Kadir, commanding officer (CO BGB) of 28-Sunamganj Battalion confirmed this information.

The CO BGB said on Wednesday afternoon, a BGB patrol team of Baganbari BOP in Dowarabazar of the battalion arrested the 6 persons from the border at Idukona.

Among the detainees, Abul Hossain of Idukona at the border and his son Iman had earlier assisted Shahin in traveling to India.

On Wednesday, saying there was work in India again, Abul Hossain and his son Iman attempted to traffic Shahin along with three persons from Faridpur into Meghalaya state of India.
