Youth Parliament visits Bangladesh National Parliament

The Youth Parliament in cooperation with the Russian House, organized a visit for 48 youths to the Bangladesh National Parliament recently.

The visit included honored guests, Mr. Pavel Devoychenkov, Head of the Russian House and Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Bangladesh, and Ms. Karina Vasileva, Senior Executive Officer of the Russian House. Also present were Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Youth Leader and Youth Parliament President, Mr. Sarker Tanvir Ahmed, along with Duke of Edinburgh Award winner and Youth Parliament General Secretary, Mr. Bebak More.

Upon arrival, the delegation was given a comprehensive visit, including the national parliament library, the main session room and various lobbies.

Highlights included the first handwritten constitution of Bangladesh, the IPU and Mujib Corner and a collection of newspapers dating back to 1974 that enthrall guests and youths. Mr. Pavel Devoychenkov reminisced about the Soviet Union's contributions to Bangladesh's Liberation war in 1971 and expressed interest in establishing a Russian corner in the parliament library.

After that, everyone entered the main assembly room of the Bangladesh Parliament to understand the practical aspects and its operations. Attendees explored the session room, children's gallery, president's gallery, and VVIP galleries. After concluding the visit, a group photo was taken at the Presidential Plaza to commemorate the occasion with the honorable guests.

In the second phase of the event, Chief Guest Mr. Pavel Devoychenkov and Special Guest Ms. Karina Vasileva presented certificates and crests to all participants. Al-Mometh Siddique and Rawson Ara of the Youth Parliament received the Long Service Youth Award for the first time. Youth Parliament President Sarker Tanvir Ahmed and General Secretary Bebak More expressed their gratitude to the Russian House and honored guests with crests.
Since 2018, the Youth Parliament has been working to shape the youth as an exemplary generation of parliamentarians.

Through various significant activities, the “Youth Delegation Program” offers deserving young individuals the chance to visit the Parliament, fostering a culture of democratic practice and civic learning.
