
Young man shot dead by miscreants in Maheshkhali

A young man has been shot dead by miscreants in Maheshkhali, Cox’s Baza on early Tuesday morning in the Marakkaghona area of Kalarmarchhara Union under Maheshkhali Upazila, according to Maheshkhali Police Station OC Kaiser Hamid.
The deceased, Mamun Sharif (35), was the son of the late Monsur Alam alias Rosu from the Samiraghona area of Kalarmarchhara Union in Maheshkhali.
An eyewitness and local autorickshaw driver Nazem Uddin said that late at night, while returning home with his vehicle via the Jhapuya Station in Maheshkhali, he saw a young man lying in a pool of blood on the road in front of one Kaiser’s pharmacy shop in the Marakkaghona area. He later informed the police about the matter.
OC Kaiser Hamid said that locals informed them about an injured young man lying on the road in the Marakkaghona area of Maheshkhali at night. Later, a police team rushed to the spot and rescued the bullet-hit young man. At that time, the police also recovered an empty bullet shell from the scene. With the help of locals, the injured man was taken to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex. As his condition was critical, the attending doctor there referred him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Upon arrival at CMCH, the on-duty doctor at the emergency department declared him dead before he could be admitted.
OC Kaiser Hamid further said that police have not yet confirmed who or why this murder was committed. Efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest those involved in the incident.
He added that the body of the deceased has been kept at the Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for autops
