
Mother, sister assaulted, house vendalised over property dispute in Begumganj

A man named Jasim Uddin has been accused of brutally assaulting his mother and sister and vandalizing their home over a long-standing property dispute in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali.
The incident occurred at around 9 PM on Monday in the Darogar Baper Bari area of Ward 4 under Narottampur Union.
The victim, Selina Akter (31), daughter of the late Amin Ullah, stated that her brother Jasim Uddin (44) has been trying to unlawfully seize their father’s property. According to her, Jasim and his associates frequently harass and abuse the family using vulgar language, threats of eviction, and even death threats.
On the night of the incident, Jasim and a group of accomplices allegedly stormed into the house hurling insults. A verbal altercation quickly escalated, and the attackers, armed with sticks and rods, assaulted Selina, her mother, and other family members, leaving them seriously injured. Additionally, the attackers reportedly damaged doors, windows, and fencing, causing an estimated loss of Tk 3 lakh.
Local residents intervened and rescued the victims from further harm. The family has since expressed concerns for their safety, fearing further attacks.
The accused include: Jasim Uddin (44), son of the late Amin Ullah, Hanif (25), Jasim's son, Rabbi (20), son of Monir Ahmed, Roksana Begum (40), Jasim’s wife and along with 5-6 unidentified associates.
When contacted, Begumganj Police Station OC Liton Dewan confirmed the incident and said the victims have filed a written complaint. Legal action will be taken following a proper investigation, he added.
