World Hindi Day was celebrated on Wednesday at Dhaka University Modern Language Institute.

The Institute of Modern Languages in collaboration with the Indian High Commission in Dhaka organized various programs on the occasion. The program included candle lighting, discussions, cultural programs etc. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal attended the program as the chief guest and inaugurated these programs.

The Indian High Commissioner appointed to Bangladesh Mr. Prannoy Verma spoke as the guest of honour. Meanwhile, Dhaka University Modern Language Institute Director Professor Dr. Saidur Rahman, Indian High Commission officials and Dhaka University teachers and students were present.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal wished and congratulated the World Hindi Day and said that Hindi language is one of the most popular languages in the world. Hindi songs and movies are popular worldwide.

Recalling India's all-out cooperation in the great liberation war in 1971 with deep respect, he said, many soldiers of India sacrificed their lives for our freedom. The historically friendly relations between Bangladesh and India have reached new heights. He expressed hope that this friendly relationship between the two countries will be strengthened in the future by strengthening language, education, economy and social and cultural relations.

Indian High Commissioner Mr. Prannoy Verma said that friendly relations between Bangladesh and India have existed for a long time. Pointing out that Bengali and Hindi languages have created a bond between the people of the two neighboring countries, he said that by organizing such programs, this relationship between the two countries will be strengthened in the future.
