Whip Shamsul again faces wrath of AL leaders

Whip Shamsul Hoque Chowdhury again experienced the wrath of the Awami League (AL) leaders and activists and locals at Dakkhin Bhurshi union under the upazila on Saturday.
Sources said there was a prescheduled programme of AL-nominated candidate Motaherul Islam Chowdhury in the Durga Bari area under the union in the afternoon.
Whip Shamsul appeared in the group at that time, resulting in a tense situation.
The Ward No. 4 AL President Mahabubur Alam Member alleged that the whip and his men created obstruction in the campaign of the AL candidate there.
The locals and AL leaders and activists expressed their wrath at that time.
Acting Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Solaiman of Patiya Police Station said that on information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
On the other hand, a Juba League leader and supporter of an AL-nominated candidate was injured in an attack by supporters Whip Shamsul on Friday.
The injured Abu Towhid, 30, is the Deputy Publicity Secretary of Juba League Patiya Municipality Unit.
Sources said Towhid came under attack while pasting poster at ward no. 5.
AL Patiya Municipality ward no. 5 Joint General Secretary Haider Alam, known as a supporter of independent candidate Shamsul, reportedly led the attack.
Injured Towhid received treatment at a local hospital, said sources.
