VDP team lleader intercepts 22 bottles of smuggled Indian liquor in Bishwambharpur

Demonstrating exceptional vigilance while returning home after duty, a Village Defence Party (VDP) team leader intercepted 22 bottles of smuggled Indian liquor in Bishwambharpur Upazila of Sunamganj district on Wednesday afternoon.
With the assistance of local residents, the VDP official detained the suspect transporting the contraband and handed him over to the local police station alongside the seized liquor.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 pm at the Dhanpur Bazar three-way intersection in Bishwambharpur Upazila.
According to official sources, Md. Solaiman Hakim, Union VDP Team Leader for Sulakabad Union, was returning home after successfully completing security duties for idol immersion ceremonies at the Fatehpur Sarbajanin Puja Mandap.
While getting off an auto-rickshaw at Dhanpur Bazar, Solaiman Hakim detected a strong smell of alcohol emanating from a bag carried by a fellow passenger on a rental motorcycle. Sensing suspicion, he inspected the bag and discovered 22 bottles of Indian liquor, one of which was broken.
Solaiman Hakim immediately acted to apprehend the carrier with help from nearby locals. The detainee was later identified as Kanu Ghosh, 25, a resident of the Mollapara area under Sunamganj Sadar Upazila.
