
Van passenger killed, 5 injured as truck hits in Puthia

A van passenger named Sanchita (40) was killed after being hit by a truck in Puthia. The deceased, Sanchita, was the wife of Shyamal Kormokar from Kalikpur village in Bagatipara upazila of Natore district.
At the same time, five others including the van driver were injured. The injured are van driver Akshed Ali (48), Monisha (15), Sujit (2), Ratna (25), and Suchitra (12). The accident occurred on Saturday at 1:25 PM at Senbhag on the Rajshahi-Natore highway.
According to eyewitnesses, Shyamal Kormokar’s family was on their way to Matchpara in Puthia upazila to attend a wedding feast by van. Upon reaching Senbhag on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway, a bamboo-laden truck from behind hit the van, causing Sanchita to die on the spot as she was crushed under the truck’s wheels. Van driver Akshed Ali, Monisha, Sujit, Ratna, and Suchitra were thrown onto the highway and injured. Critically injured van driver Akshed Ali was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), while the others were admitted to Puthia Upazila Health Complex.
Regarding the incident, Poba Highway Police Station OC Kazi Mozammel Haque said, they reached the scene quickly after receiving the news and seized the truck.
