At least two people were killed and 15 others injured in a clash between two Awami League factions over dominance in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi on Sunday. The clash began in the Banshgari area of Raipura on Sunday morning. Among the deceased, Alamgir Hossain (20), son of Zahar Ali of Banshgari area, and the other's name is Ali Ahmed.

OC of Raipura police statipn, Adil Mahmud confirmed the matter. Locals and police sources, it was learned that there has been a long-standing dispute between former Banshgari Union Parishad chairman Ashraful Haque Sarkar and current chairman Zakir Hasan Ratul over dominance. According to locals, both of them had contested the local government elections as boat candidates for the chairmanship. Their followers engaged in clashes with local weapons Sunday morning.

Alamgir Hossain, who was injured in the clash, was taken to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital where doctor on duty declared him dead. Ali Ahmed died on the spot.

In this regard, Chairman Zakir Hasan Ratul said, "I have no dispute with former Chairman Ashraful. The clash between Jubo Dal leaders and his group has been going on since last night. I am not involved in it."
Additional SP in Raipura circle, Md. Kalimullah said, "We have received information about the collision. We are going to the scene."

Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) in Raipura, Masud Rana said, " police could not reach the main spot until 11:30 am due to the impassable river route. The situation is not under control yet."

The situation in the area is tense following the clash. Police are currently on the scene and working to bring the situation under control.
