Training on Zinc paddy production held in Rangpur

A Training Programme was conducted for women to improve skills in Zinc Seed Paddy production organized by RDRS Bangladesh at ‘Dharmapal Samaj Kalyan Sanstha’ in Kherkati village in Jaldhaka upazila of Nilphamari district under Rangpur Division on Thursday afternoon.
RDRS Bangladesh is organizing in three districts of Rangpur under the ‘Harvest Plus Bangladesh's intensive project.
Md. Mizanur Rahman, chairman of ‘Dharmapal Samaj Kalyan Sanstha’ presided over the skill development training of the members. Assistant Agriculture Officer of Jaldhaka Upazila Md. Shaheen Ahmed and Technical Officer of RDRS Md. Shahinur Islam were present as resource persons.
Meanwhile, Assistant Agriculture Officer Md Shaheen Ahmed said methods of cultivating zinc rice Bri Dhan 100 and Bri Dhan 102, including seed source, seed drying, seed selection, germination, seed sowing, insects, seed lifting, planting, maturing, cutting etc. He also discussed in detail about rice threshing, drying, storage, wet treatment etc.
He also said that zinc paddy will meet the daily zinc requirements of the human body through regular consumption of rice, emphasizing the importance of rice cultivation and how to produce it.
40 members of zinc paddy seed production team of ‘Dharmapal Samaj Kalyan Sanstha’ participated in this in Kherkati village.
