Tk 3 cr embezzlement at Islami Bank Agent Branch in Joypurhat alleged

A major financial scandal has been alleged at Akkelpur agent banking branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited in Joypurhat, where the branch's cashier, Masud Rana, has been accused of embezzling nearly Tk 3 crore from customer and institutional accounts.The victims organized a human chain on Sunday afternoon in front of the Islami Bank district office in Joypurhat, demanding the return of their deposits. The protest continued for an hour and was followed by a demonstration and submission of a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.Speakers at the protest included Abdus Salam, Principal of Akkelpur Hightech Kindergarten; Mufti Firoz Ahmad, Superintendent of Darul Quran Madrasa; Abdul Mannan, Education Secretary of the madrasa; and Jamal Uddin, a senior lecturer at the institution.They alleged that cashier Masud Rana systematically withdrew money from several customer accounts using deceptive tactics. Although police detained the branch owner and two others, they were released on bail the next day, leaving depositors uncertain and anxious about the return of their funds.The protesters demanded immediate action to recover their money and hold those responsible accountable.
