 Rajbari Correspondent

The 3-day traditional 153rd ' Fakir  Mela ' of Goalando ended at midnight on Wednesday with various arrangements to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new year under the slogans "Naraye Takbir-Naraye Risalat, Allahu Akbar, Ya Rasulullah" and "Fakir Allah's Bheed, Allah Fakirer Bheed" in the courtyard of Tenu Fakir, Ward No. 3 of Goalanda Municipality, Rajbari district.

Pohela Baishakh is a traditional day for the Bengali nation. To welcome the day and maintain the tradition of Tenu Fakir's shrine, various programs and events are held in the courtyard of Tenu Fakir's shrine for three consecutive days from the first day of Baisakhi to mark the 153rd Fakiri Tattva Dialogue Anniversary (Orsha Mubarak).

It is worth mentioning that on the first day of the Bengali month of Baishakh in the year 1279, 1872 AD, on the instructions of the Nurullah Pur Pak Darbar Sharif of Fakir Olikul's Shiromani Hazrat Shah Lal Shah (Sanal Fakir) Chishti (RA), Tenu Fakir inaugurated this fair in the courtyard of his house.

After the death of Tenu Fakir, his two sons Mohammad Ali Fakir and Jonab Ali Fakir and his younger brother Arshad Ali Fakir took over the responsibility. After the death of three of them, Arshad Ali Fakir's son Adam Ali Fakir later took over the responsibility. After several years of continuous fairs, after his death, Abdur Rashid Fakir, son of the deceased Jonab Ali Fakir, is still performing the duties. However, due to his poor physical condition, the activities of Tenu Fakir's shrine are currently being supervised by his youngest son Fakir Palash Baul.

On the first day of the 153rd fair this year, the Tariqwati flag was hoisted at 6 am, and a Tariqwati discussion was held at 7 pm.

On the second day, after the Fajr Milad Mahfil and distribution of Tobarak, religious music (Jari Gaan) was performed by artist Arfan Al-Chishti from Manikganj district and artist Shamima Sarkar from Goalando at 2 pm.

On the third, or last, day of Baisakhi, religious music (Bichar Gaan) is held from 2 pm to midnight. Bichar Gaan is performed by artist Fakir Abul Sarkar from Faridpur district and artist Fakir Palash Baul from Goalando.

On the last day, the 153rd Fakiri Mela Celebration Committee was moderated by General Secretary Md. Rafiq Sardar, and the committee president Md. Alauddin Khan was in the chair. Goalando Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Nahidur Rahman was present as the chief guest.

In this regard, Fakir Palash Baul, another member of the organizing committee and caretaker of Tenu Fakir Shrine, said, "On the instructions of Nurullah Pur Pak Darbar Sharif of Fakir Olikul's Shiromani Hazrat Shah Lal Shah (Sanal Fakir) Chishti (R.A.), this year's 153rd fair was organized in the courtyard of Tenu Fakir as our family tradition since 1279 B.E. Such an event is held every year to maintain our family tradition. Now my father Abdur Rashid Fakir is in charge of this shrine."
