Task Force conducts anti-drug drive in Kuliarchar, arrests one with yaba

An anti-narcotics Task Force drive conducted by the upazila administration, Bangladesh Ansar, and the Department of Narcotics Control Bhairab Circle has led to the arrest of a man named Nasir Mia along with Yaba tablets in Kuliarchar Upazila on Friday.
The detainee, Nasir Mia, is the son of Yusuf Mia residing in the Bir Kasimnagar area of the upazila. Following the raid, a mobile court sentenced Nasir Mia to four months of rigorous imprisonment and fined him 1,000 taka.
According to details of the operation, task force members searched his two-room tin-shed dwelling based on confidential information and recovered three pieces of Yaba tablets.
Chandan Gopal Sur, Inspector of the Department of Narcotics Control Bhairab Circle, stated that the multidisciplinary team detained Nasir Mia red-handed with the narcotics and subsequently submitted a formal prosecution to the executive magistrate's court to initiate legal proceedings.
UNO and Executive Magistrate Md. Yasin Khandaker emphasized that drugs pose a grave threat to society and the younger generation, adding that anti-narcotics operations will be further intensified. He confirmed that the mobile court handed down the sentence and fine in accordance with existing legal provisions regarding the recovered substances.
