Students of Hatiya Burirchar Chhaidia High School formed a human chain, staged a protest march and submitted a memorandum demanding the removal of Headmaster Mojahidul Islam Tutul on Wednesday afternoon.
They have raised serious allegations against the headmaster, including harassment of women, embezzlement of funds, irregularities, drug addiction, and misbehavior with teachers. These allegations have created anger throughout the school and the area.
More than two hundred students, defying the rain, marched from their schools to the upazila headquarters. Later, they formed a human chain and protested for an hour on the main road of the upazila headquarters. The students chanted slogans — “We will not tolerate injustice, we want Tutul Sir’s removal.”
After the human chain, the students took a protest march to the UNO office, where they submitted a memorandum demanding the removal of the headmaster, an impartial investigation into his misdeeds, and exemplary punishment.
According to school and local sources, he is currently in jail after being arrested in a drug case. As a result, it was not possible to take his statement.
