Struggle of woman on handle of rickshaw: Barishal Sadar UNO stood by her

Helena Begum holds onto the handle of a rickshaw to keep her three fatherless daughters safe. This indomitable woman has kept the wheels of the family moving with honest hard work, ignoring the sun and rain, not begging or the compassion of others. The news of her struggle and hardship reached Barisal Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mosha Farida Sultana. Upon receiving the news, she came forward with humanitarian assistance to helpless Helena.
On Tuesday , UNO Farida Sultana called Helena Begum to her office. She was presented with a raincoat to make it easier for her to drive a rickshaw in rainy and adverse weather conditions. She was also given a button mobile phone and some high-quality dry food for emergency communication and daily assistance.
According to those involved, this raincoat is not just a gift for Helena, who has been living through extreme uncertainty, but also a great safeguard for her livelihood in adverse weather conditions. The mobile phone and food items will also bring immediate relief to her family.
Local residents are impressed by such a sensitive and humane step by a high-ranking official of the administration. They said that this initiative of Farida Sultana will inspire the wealthy and responsible people in the society to stand by the helpless people. The city residents hope that such participation of the administration and the wealthy class of the society will continue to ease the difficult life struggle of the marginalized people.
