Md Hasan Ali, Baghaichhari (Rangamati)

State Minister for Hill Affairs and Land, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, visited the flood-affected areas of Baghaichhari Upazila in Rangamati following the recent devastating floods. He arrived in Baghaichhari at around 3:00 pm on Wednesday.

The State Minister assured local residents that an embankment would be constructed at Barbindu Ghat in Marishya Union to prevent future flooding and that dredging of the Kachalong River would be undertaken. During the visit, he spoke with Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie via video call. They discussed the proposed embankment project at Barbindu, and the Water Resources Minister assured that the necessary steps would be taken.

Later, he distributed relief materials among flood-affected families at the Baghaichhari Upazila Parishad auditorium. Addressing the gathering, he said the government is committed to ensuring balanced and sustainable development in the Chittagong Hill Tracts regardless of religion or ethnicity.

Accompanying the State Minister during the visit were Rangamati District BNP President Dipen Talukdar Dipu, General Secretary Advocate Mamunur Rashid, the Vice Chairman of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board, the Additional Superintendent of Police, Rangamati Hill District Council Member Babu Deb Prasad Dewan, along with leaders and activists of the BNP and its associate organizations.

Also present were Baghaichhari UNO Amena Marjan, OC of Baghaichhari Police Station Nasir Uddin Majumdar, Baghaichhari Municipal BNP President Nizam Uddin Babu, General Secretary Rahmatullah Khaza, Upazila BNP President Omar Ali, General Secretary Jabedul Alam, and leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organizations.
