Smuggled Indian fuchka shipment seized in Sylhet, two arrested by SRB-9

Special Reconnaissance Battalion (SRB-9) seized a massive smuggled shipment of Indian fuchka and arrested two individuals from a Sylhet-bound drum truck on the Dhaka–Sylhet highway.
The arrestees were identified as Abdul Halim, son of Hazrat Ali of Keowa Paschim Khanda village in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur, and Suruj Mia, son of Hosen Ali of Tukergaon village in Companiganj upazila of Sylhet.
An operational team from the CPC-3 Shaistaganj Camp of SRB-9 conducted the interception after setting up a tactical checkpoint on the highway in the Shaistaganj road area on Sunday morning.
During the drive, SRB-9 personnel signaled a suspicious drum truck heading toward Sylhet to stop and recovered 7,108 kg of packaged Indian fuchka contained inside 148 plastic sacks. The estimated market value of the duty-evaded food consignment is Tk 14 lakh.
Confirming the operation on Monday, SRB-9 Media Officer (Additional Superintendent of Police) K. M. Shahidul Islam Sohag stated that the seized goods and truck were handed over to Shaistaganj Police Station, with legal proceedings and formal case filing underway against the detained suspects.
