Six remanded in Mohammadpur teen gang leader Emon murder case

A court in Dhaka today placed six individuals on four-day remand each in a case filed over the killing of teenage gang leader Emon, also known as Alex Emon, in the Mohammadpur area of the capital.

The accused are Sayed Hossain Shimul alias Aiub (26), Md Tuhin Biswas (24), Md Rabbi Kazi (25), Md Rana (40), Md Sumon (26), and Md Russel alias Picchi Russel (25).

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Monirul Islam passed the order after police produced the accused before the court and sought a seven-day remand for interrogation.

According to the case statement, Emon was hacked indiscriminately by members of a rival gang in the Banshbari area under Mohammadpur Police Station on April 12. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Following the incident, Emon’s mother, Ferdousi Begum, filed a murder case with Mohammadpur Police Station the next day, naming 21 accused and 10–12 unidentified persons.
