Six arrested in Dohar during police operation against robbery preparation

: Dohar Thana Police arrested six individuals on suspicion of preparing for a robbery. The arrests were made on Monday night, 21 July 2025, around 2:30 AM in the Shilakotha Munshi Bari area of Kusumhati Union, Dohar Upazila, according to police sources.
On Tuesday at 2:00 PM, a robbery case was filed, and the six suspects were presented in court with a request for a five-day remand for interrogation.
The arrested individuals are identified as Md. Jasim Uddin (43), son of Yakub Ali from Shilakotha village; Daud Ahmed Pavel (49), son of Mahtab Uddin Ahmed from the same village; Shaon Bepari (25), son of Lutfor Bepari; Al-Amin Sheikh (20), son of Md. Mostafa Sheikh from West Shilakotha; Sheikh Nayan (20), son of Sheikh Rahman from Anta Bahra; and Miraj Hossain (25), son of Sheikh Tota Mia from Shilakotha.
According to the case details and police sources, on Monday night around 2:30 AM, based on a tip-off from locals via mobile phone, Dohar Thana Police learned that a group of 10-15 armed robbers was gathered in the Shilakotha Munshi Bari area. Acting on this confidential information, a police team conducted a raid. During the operation, locals were alerted via the mosque's loudspeaker to gather and assist. With the help of the community, police apprehended six suspects with indigenous weapons, while the others escaped under the cover of darkness. Items recovered from the suspects included two machetes, two knives, and mobile phones.
Dohar Thana’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Hasan Ali stated that the arrested individuals provided significant information, which cannot be disclosed due to the ongoing investigation. He confirmed the recovery of two machetes, two knives, and mobile phones from the suspects. He added that the group’s leader, Jasim Uddin, is a professional drug trafficker with multiple cases filed against him at Dohar Thana.
Meanwhile, social media posts on platforms like Facebook have gone viral, alleging that the arrested individuals are involved in drug trafficking and consumption, despite being labeled as robbers by the police. These posts include images purportedly showing their involvement in drug-related activities.
