Sadiq Abdullah's candidature remains cancelled

Barishal-5 Constituency independent candidate Sadiq Abdullah Sirniabad's candidature remains cancelled.
On Tuesday (December 19), Appellate Division Chamber Justice M Enayetur Rahim suspended the order of the High Court and gave this order.
Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan and Advocate Nahid Sultana Juthi appeared on behalf of Sadiq Abdullah in the court. Advocate Ahsanul Karim heard on the other side.
Earlier, on Monday (December 18), the High Court declared the candidacy of independent candidate Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah of Barisal-5 seat as valid. Justice Abu Taher Saifur Rahman and Justice Md. The High Court bench of Bashir Ullah passed the order.
The court passed the order after hearing a writ against the EC's decision on dual citizenship. Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan appeared on behalf of Sadiq Abdullah in the court.
On December 15, the Election Commission (EC) canceled the candidature of independent candidate Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah of Barisal-5 seat. The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal gave this verdict in the appeal hearing of the Election Commission.
Before that, the Awami League nominated candidate of the same constituency, Colonel Zaheed Farooque filed an appeal seeking the cancellation of his candidature on the charge of dual citizenship.
On the other hand, Sadiq Abdullah appealed against the cancellation of his candidature, alleging that Zahid Farooq had concealed information about the case. That appeal was dismissed. As a result, Zaheed Farooque's candidacy remains valid.
