Road blocked with bamboo fence in Mithapukur, two families suffer

In Mithapukur of Rangpur, allegations have been raised against the opposing party for blocking a road by erecting a bamboo fence. As a result, 8 members of two families are living a miserable life. Since the road is blocked, the affected families are entering their homes through jungles and the edges of other people’s lands.
On visiting the spot, it was seen that in Sad-Krishnapur Ezra Para of 13 No. Shalti Gopalpur Union in Mithapukur Upazila, the access road to the two families' houses is blocked. There is no way to enter the house. The road has been completely closed off with large bamboo fences. Some people are guarding it so that the fence is not broken. At that time, 7/8 men and women along with children came out from inside the jungle and said that their maternal cousins had blocked their road. Due to a minor dispute, they often block the road.
Locals said, Abdul Aziz married the daughter of deceased Nasir Uddin in Ezra Para and lived as a resident son-in-law. While staying there, Abdul Aziz lived with his wife and four children. After the death of Nasir Uddin, Saheb Ali, Ayub Mia, Sohan Mia, Rahmat Ali, Borhan along with Chan Mia became busy trying to evict the family of deceased Abdul Aziz. Without giving Nasir Uddin's daughter's share of the land to her children, the brothers evicted their nephews' houses. Later, under pressure from locals, they gave the nephews a piece of land next to the graveyard. And from everyone’s side, 3 decimals of land was given for their access.
Montejar said, our house was at our grandfather's place. Later our uncles and maternal cousins evicted us. To build a new house, a road was given through the bamboo grove. We built a house here 10/12 years ago. A few days ago, in a case filed by them, we got 12 decimals of land in share. Now they are pressuring us to transfer that land and cleverly closed the road. Because of this, my brother and I are in extreme trouble.
The children cannot even come out of the house. Azahar said, we two brothers do farming. Somehow we manage our family. Even the road land is recorded in our name. Yet our uncles and maternal cousins are trying to evict us. Since we have no close relatives here, they are threatening to kill us. Local resident Selim Mia said, they have been using this road for 10 years. Saheb’s group is repeatedly harassing these helpless people so that out of fear they leave the village.
Accused Saheb Member said, the problem will be solved. But they need to be taught a lesson. We built them a house, yet they are being disrespectful to us. Until they apologize for their disrespect, the road will remain closed.
Mithapukur police station sub-inspector (SI) Emdad said, I went to the spot and told them to remove the fence. But they did not listen to me. He said, blocking the road by the opposing party was not right at all. This is an inhumane act. The road does not even belong to them.
