Release Khaleda Zia, or be prepared to face consequences: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged the government to ensure the immediate unconditional release of party’s Chairperson Khaleda Zia, accelerating her advanced treatment abroad.
“Release Khaleda Zia, or be prepared to face any consequence,” Fakhrul made the threat pointing finger at the government while addressing a public rally held in front of the party’s Nayapaltan headquarters this afternoon.
Earlier in the day, tens of thousands of BNP leaders and activists thronged the party’s Nayapaltan office to join a rally in a bid to ensure the unconditional release of Khaleda Zia.
Leaders and supporters of the party’s different front and associate bodies gathered at the party’s central office, marching in processions and chanting slogans.
BNP announced a three-day programme on Wednesday to press home its demand for the immediate unconditional release of Khaleda Zia now undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital Dhaka.
As part of the programme, BNP is holding the rally in Dhaka today and plans to hold similar political programmes in all cities and district headquarters across the country from 1 July to 3 July.
