World Environment Day was celebrated in Gafargaon, Mymensingh.
A rally and discussion meeting was held on the occasion of World Environment Day with the theme 'No more plastic pollution' at the initiative of the Upazila administration.
The discussion meeting held at the Upazila Parishad meeting room on Wednesday was presided over by UNO N. M. Abdullah-al-Mamun. He said that plastic pollution is a terrible problem worldwide. It is having an adverse effect on the environment, fauna and public health. Each of us should be aware and limit the use of plastic and find environmentally friendly alternatives.
Officials from various departments, teachers, students, journalists, environmentalists and representatives of civil society were also present at the meeting.
After the discussion meeting, fruit and medicinal trees were planted in the Upazila Parishad premises.
