Rabindranath Tagore's life inspires to build non-communal society free from deprivation : Land Minister

Land Minister Narayon Chandra Chanda yesterday said the ideology and works of Rabindranath Tagore inspire to build a non-communal society free from exploitation and deprivation.

That is why Bangabandhu adopted the immortal creation of Kabiguru 'Amar Sonar Bangla, Ami Tomay Bhalobasi' as the national anthem of Bangladesh.

Land Minister Narayon Chandra Chanda said this while inaugurating the three-day birth birth Anniversary program of Rabindranath Tagore at Kachari Bari in Shahjadpur, Sirajganj, as the chief guest today 25th Boishakh.

Earlier, when Land Minister arrived at Rabindra Kachari house, he was welcomed by local MPs and dignitaries. After that, the land minister announced the auspicious opening of the 163rd birth anniversary program of Rabindranath Tagore at Rabindra Kacharibari in Shahjadpur by releasing balloons.

The Land Minister also said that our national anthem 'Amar Sonar Bangla' has now become one of the symbols of national unity of Bangladesh. The land minister urged the young generation to uphold a smart and non-communal Bangladesh to the world being imbued with the thoughts of Rabindranath Tagore.

The Land Minister also hoped that all the stakeholders concerned will work together to expedite the land acquisition management activities for the permanent campus of Rabindra University established by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He said that if the final proposal comes to the Ministry of Land, it will be settled expeditiously.

During a brief exchange of views with the media on the occasion, the land minister said that if there is any land grabbing in the Bathan (cow pasture) given by Rabindranath, necessary steps will be taken to recover it. He termed the cattle pasture land of Sirajganj as important for the country's agriculture as well as food and nutrition security.

Deputy Director of Local Government Mohammad Tofazzal Hossain presided over the function while Member of Parliament for Sirajganj-6 Constituency Chayan Islam, Member of Parliament for Sirajganj-2 Constituency Jannat Ara Henry, Shahjadpur Upazila Chairman Bir Muktijudhaa Azad Rahman, Shahjadpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Kamruzzaman were present as special guests. Among others, local dignitaries, students of various educational institutions, and others were present.

Under the patronage of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Sirajganj district administration is organizing three-day programs on 25, 26, and 27 Baishakh. Artistes of Shahjadpur Shilpakala Academy performed Rabindra Sangeet, recitation, and dance at the inauguration ceremony. In addition to the cultural program, the other three-day program includes discussion and seminar.
