Rajshahi Zilla Parishad Chairman Mir Iqbal has inaugurated the construction work of Rajshahi Central Shaheed Minar, which has been demanded for a long time by the people of Rajshahi, especially the pro-independence people. Earlier on December 16, 2020, the foundation stone of the Central Shaheed Minar was laid here by the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal, late advocate Ghulam Arif Tipu.

Rajshahi Zilla Parishad Chairman heroic freedom fighter Mir Iqbal officially started the construction work of Central Shaheed Minar with hundreds of brave freedom fighters, socio-cultural and political leaders and civil society representatives of Rajshahi at the place of old survey institute of the city at 11 am on Saturday.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSAD) Central Committee Vice President Advocate Mojibul Haque Baku, freedom fighter Ayubur Rahman, eminent lawyer Advocate Sushant Sarkar, Metropolitan Awami League Vice President Badiuzzaman Khair, Rajshahi Press Club President Saidur Rahman spoke on the occasion at the place of Central Shaheed Minar.

Party's Rajshahi Metropolitan General Secretary Debashish Pramanik Debu and Zilla Parishad member Abdur Rashid. Chief Executive Officer of Rajshahi Zilla Parishad Mu: Reza Hasan presided over the event.

At the time, the speakers said, in view of the long-term expectations of Rajshahi residents, the construction work of the Central Shaheed Minar started at the place where language soldier Golam Arif Tipu laid the foundation stone. Language warrior Golam Arif Tipu is not with us today, but this work will remain immortal among us as part of his struggling life.

Through the auspicious start of the construction work of the Central Shaheed Minar, the people of Rajshahi today paid their respects to every person involved in the freedom struggle of this country, starting from the language movement.

RCC Councilor Abdul Hamid Sarkar Tekn, heroic freedom fighter Kamruzzaman, brave freedom fighter Motahar Ali, brave freedom fighter Taibur Rahman, members of Rajshahi Zilla Parishad and others were present on the occasion.

It is to be noted that the Rajshahi Central Shaheed Minar is being constructed at a cost of around 78 million taka on an area of about 1 acre of the old Survey Institute in the heart of Rajshahi metropolis.
