On the occasion of the 163rd birth anniversary of world poet Rabindranath Tagore, a three-day festival has started at Shahjadpur Rabindra Kacharibari in Sirajganj.

On Wednesday (May 8) at 11:30 a.m., Minister of Lands Sadhan Chandra inaugurated the program by cutting the Mars ribbon and blowing balloons. Deputy Commissioner Mir Muhammad Mahbubur Rahman presided over the opening ceremony at Rabindra Kacharibari Auditorium.

Member of Parliament of Sirajganj-6 Constituency Chayan Islam, Rabindra University VC Professor Dr. Shah Azam were present as special guests. Later artists of the District Shilpakala Academy performed music.

On the occasion of his birth anniversary, the Kacharibari premises, which are full of memories of the poet, have been bustling with visitors and Rabindra devotees since the morning.

The three-day program includes cultural programs, discussion meetings, dance performances, recitals, plays.There is a festive atmosphere in the whole of Shahjadpur around the birth anniversary event.'

When a part of Rani Bhavani's zamindari of Natore was auctioned, Prince Dwarkanath Tagore, the grandfather of poet Rabindranath Tagore, bought this zamindari of Shahjadpur for only 13 taka 10 annas in 1840. For 8 years from 1890 to 1897, poet Guru Rabindranath Tagore used to come here to take care of Shahjadpur zamindari and also lived here temporarily.

And sitting here, the poet composed the poems Sonartari, Chitali, Chaitali, Kalpana, Short story Post Master, Ram Kanai's stupidity, Interval, Tara Prasanna's feat, Holiday, End, Hungry Stone, Guest, 38 Shredded Epistles, Essays and Special Parts of Gitanjali, plays. Literary works like desertion.
