Human chain, rally protesting false news in Mirzaganj

A human chain and protest rally were held in Mirzaganj, Patuakhali, in protest of false, fabricated, and baseless news published against Shimul Miraz in several newspapers and online news portals.
An one-hour-long human chain was formed in front of the Majidbaria Union Parishad office, followed by a protest rally. Hundreds of local residents participated in the program on Tuesday noon.
Shimul Miraz is the youngest son of the late Barek Miah, former chairman of the said union parishad, and currently serves as the joint convener of the Mirzaganj Upazila Chhatra Dal (student wing of the BNP).
Speakers at the human chain stated that entirely false, fabricated, and baseless news was published on social media platforms like Facebook and in several newspapers and online news portals with the intent to tarnish the reputation and long-standing heritage of Shimul Miraz and his family.
They further added that Shimul Miraz is an honest, brave, and highly talented joint convener of the Mirzaganj Upazila Chhatra Dal, who enjoys a great reputation within the organization. A group of self-serving and greedy individuals, acting as agents of the fallen Awami League government, have provided journalists with false and misleading information to publish news against Miraz. For this reason, we strongly condemn and protest such actions.
