Quota movement : Rangamati devoid of tourists, traders at a loss

The hilly district of Rangamati has no tourists during the busy monsoon season. In the prevailing situation, the residential hotels and resorts are lying empty due to lack of tourists. Tourism officials said that there has been a loss of around 5 crore rupees in the last one week.

The nature of the mountains is constantly changing during monsoons. Rangamati has been redecorated in hills, forests and fountains. Toitumor in the water of Kaptai Lake during the monsoon season. Rangadwip, Baraganga, Nilanjana Resort, Rangamati Tourism and holiday complexes built on the banks of the lake do not have the same number of tourists as before. Traders are spending idle time due to lack of tourists due to unstable situation.

Businessmen say that there is no sale at all. Tourists have not come in the last few days due to the situation in the country. If the situation is normal, if the tourists start coming, the sales will be good.

There are no tourists in residential hotels and resorts. As a result, more than 5 crore rupees have been lost in the tourism sector alone in the last one week, said the concerned businessmen.

Alok Vikas Chakma, manager of Rangamati district of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation, said that tourism has been zero for the past few days. We have lost about 50 thousand rupees per day. If traffic is normal, tourists will come to Rangamati like before.

There are 52 commercial residential hotels in Rangamati town and 116 resorts in Sajek Valley. Businessmen concerned hope that the situation will be normal soon and the tourism business of the hill will turn around again.
