
Public awareness meeting on jatka hilsa conservation in Pansha

Keeping in mind the slogan "If Jatka fishing is stopped, Hilsa will rise in nets", a public awareness meeting on Jatka conservation was held in Pansha, Rajbari under the Hilsa Resource Development and Management Project for the financial year 2024-25.
The meeting was held at the Habaspur Union Parishad premises of the upazila at 11 am on Saturday in the implementation of the Upazila Task Force Committee on Hilsa Resource Development.
UNO S.M. Abu Darda presided over the meeting, and Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Tofazzel Hossain, Habaspur UP Chairman Md. Al-Mamun Khan and others spoke at the meeting. Upazila Fisheries Officer Saeed Ahmed delivered a welcome speech at the meeting.
At this time, UNO S.M. Abu Darda said, Hilsa is our silver resource. Therefore, we should protect the Hilsa resource. Hilsa fulfills our needs and is also exported abroad. Therefore, you will refrain from harvesting Jatka Hilsa from April 8 to April 14. This will increase the Hilsa resources of our country.
About 150 fishermen of the union were present at the meeting.
