Protest marches and rallies held in Lalmonirhat to protest against the heinous insults made against Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his wives.
The protest march and rally was jointly organized by the United Tawheed Muslim Janata, the united devotees of Goshala Bazar Jame Mosque, the New Colony area Tawheed Muslim Janata, and the Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital Road Tawheed Muslim Janata at the Collectorate Ground in Lalmonirhat on Tuesday,
Devotees, muezzins, and imams from various mosques spoke at the protest march and rally. At that time, the Sammilita Tawheedi Muslim Janata, the Sammilita Tawheedi Muslim Janata of Goshala Bazar Jame Masjid, the Tawheedi Muslim Janata of New Colony area, the Tawheedi Muslim Janata of Sadar Hospital Road, and other devotees, muezzins, and imams were present.
The protest march started from different areas of Lalmonirhat, gathered at the Collectorate Ground in Lalmonirhat, and then collectively circled the main roads of the district town before culminating in a rally at Mission Mor Roundabout, the heart of the district town.
It is mentioned that around 2 pm on Sunday ,
Shri Paresh Chandra Shil (69) and his son Shri Bishnu Chandra Shil (35) of the Hindu community were arrested, a case was filed and they were remanded in jail by the court on charges of insulting Islam at a salon owned by Shri Paresh Chandra Shil at Hanif Pagla intersection in Ward No. 9 of Lalmonirhat Municipality.
