Illegal current nets, yarn reel worth Tk 180 cr seized in Munshiganj

Illegal current nets and yarn reels worth about  Tk 180 crore were seized in Coast Guard operation in Munshiganj
 
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid disclosed this information in a press release on Tuesday afternoon.  
 
According to the press release, based on secret information, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station Pagla at an illegal current net manufacturing factory in the Sipahipara adjacent area of Munshiganj Sadar upazila at 5 am on Tuesday . During the operation, 3 net manufacturing factories, 2 godowns, and 1 iron mill were searched, and approximately 512,000,000 meters of current nets and 80,000 yarn reels used in net manufacturing were seized, with an estimated market value of Tk 18,016,000,000 (one hundred eighty crore sixteen lakh).
 
Later, the seized nets and yarn reels were destroyed in the presence of the senior fisheries officer of Munshiganj Sadar upazila.
 
To maintain law and order in the country, Bangladesh Coast Guard has maintained 24-hour patrols. Through this, the law and order situation and prevention of drug smuggling in the coastal and riverbank areas under the jurisdiction of the Coast Guard have improved significantly. The Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent drug smuggling.
