
Jubo Dal president arrested with firearms, ammunition in Noakhali

A Jubo Dal leader has been arrested along with firearms, bullets and cartridges in a joint operation in Chatkhil, Noakhali.
The accused was handed over to the Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Tuesday noon.
He was arrested from his house on the southern bank of Sater Dighi in Dharmapur village of the upazila in the early hours of the same day.
The arrested person is Jahidul Islam Rubel (38), the president of Ramnarayanpur Union Jubo Dal in the upazila and the son of the deceased Hossain Chowdhury of the same area.
Police said that in the early hours of the morning, the army and police jointly conducted a raid in the southern part of Sater Dighi in Dharmapur village of Ramnarayanpur union of the upazila. At that time, a country-made pistol was recovered from the sunshade of the window on the south side of the residence of Jubo Dal leader Rubel, with a trigger and firing pin attached to it. In addition, 7 rounds of 303 rifle bullets, 7 rounds of 12 bore cartridges (rubber bullets) and an old iron chapati blade were recovered.
Advocate Abu Hanif, a member of the Noakhali district BNP convening committee and former president of Chatkhil Upazila BNP, said, "Rubel is the current president of the Union Jubo Dal. He is known as a humble and polite person in the area. Someone conspired and framed him by placing weapons on the cornice outside his house."
Chatkhil Police Station OC Mohammad Firoz Ahmed Chowdhury said, the accused himself took out these weapons and ammunition during the operation.
A case has been registered against him under the Arms Act at Chatkhil Police Station in this incident. Case No. 9. Later, he was arrested in that case and handed over to the Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.
