Protest in Kapasia demanding diploma nursing course to be equivalent to bachelor's degree

Students of Syeda Zohra Tajuddin Nursing College have formed a human chain and protest rally demanding that the diploma nursing course be equivalent to bachelor's degree. They have been holding various programs across the country for several days.
They organized this human chain and protest rally in front of Kapasia Upazila Health Complex Hospital on Sunday morning.“We, Syed Zohra Tajuddin Nursing College, have gathered here because we want our just rights. We, who are studying in the Diploma in Nursing Science and Midwifery course, have been working hard for three years—practical, clinical duties, internships, and even RN exams. Yet this course is not being recognized as equivalent to a degree.This devaluation is not only belittling us, but the entire nursing profession.Our demand is very clear—this diploma course should be evaluated academically and recognized as equivalent to a degree.”The speakers present at that time said, we pass HSC and get a diploma for 3 years. After that, even after doing an internship for 6 months, our degree is not evaluated. But we remain that intern. Our entire life's hard work goes in vain. Therefore, our Diploma in Nursing Science and Midwifery and Diploma in Midwifery courses should be given a degree equivalent to a bachelor's degree. The students also warned that the movement will be more severe if our demands are not accepted.Present at the time were Bangladesh Diploma Nurses Union Syeda Johura Tajuddin Nursing College Branch President Imran Hossain Rony, General Secretary Imran Hossain, Shahin Alam, Ashraful, Tanzila, Faruk Ahmed, Rabia Sultana and students of all batches.
